NexTech Solutions (NTS) is a team of experts and engineers who understand the challenges that organizations face in finding and implementing the best technologies and IT solutions to meet mission requirements. We work with our government customers in defense and civilian agencies to identify new technologies.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Counter–Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) to lead the technical design, integration, and lifecycle engineering of advanced C-UAS capabilities in support of national defense missions. The ideal candidate will bring extensive systems engineering experience within DoD or federal acquisition environments, including 6+ years specializing in C-UAS technologies, and a proven record of delivering engineered solutions that meet complex operational requirements.
This role requires close coordination with senior leadership, engineering teams, operational units, and industry partners to architect, field, test, and sustain state-of-the-art C-UAS systems that enhance warfighter survivability and mission performance.

Key Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

Systems Engineering & Technical Integration

Lead the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle for C-UAS capabilities, including requirements analysis, architecture development, design, integration, and verification/validation.
Translate operational needs and threat assessments into technical requirements and engineering specifications.
Develop and maintain system architectures, interface control documents, and engineering baselines.
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of C-UAS technologies with existing defense systems and mission networks.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

Serve as a senior technical advisor to government stakeholders, program teams, and cross-functional engineering groups.
Provide guidance to junior engineers and technical support personnel, promoting engineering rigor and best practices.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and technology partners to evaluate technical proposals and ensure alignment with system requirements.

System Deployment, Testing & Field Support

Lead testing, evaluation, and fielding activities for C-UAS technologies across U.S. Air Force and NATO locations.
Conduct site surveys, installation planning, system integration events, and operational readiness assessments.
Support real-world operational scenarios, system troubleshooting, and performance optimization during elevated threat conditions.
Document engineering findings and develop recommendations for system improvements or corrective actions.

Acquisition Engineering & Technical Documentation

Develop engineering artifacts required for acquisition milestones, including specifications, test plans, technical reports, and configuration management documentation.
Support the technical evaluation of system upgrades, vendor solutions, and engineering change proposals.
Contribute technical input to risk assessments, cost estimates, and sustainment planning.

Innovation, Research & Continuous Improvement

Identify emerging C-UAS technologies and assess their applicability to mission needs.
Conduct trade studies and modeling/analysis to evaluate system enhancements and new capability insertion.
Lead root-cause analysis and after-action reviews to drive continuous technological improvement. Recommend engineering solutions that increase reliability, survivability, and operational effectiveness of deployed systems.
