As an RPIC, you will be responsible for the safe and compliant operation of drones during delivery missions, ensuring all applicable FAA Part 107 and 135 regulations are followed. You will lead flight operations, pre-flight/post-flight inspections, and coordinate with our operations team to ensure timely and successful deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate drones in various environments, maintaining compliance with FAA Part 107 and 135 regulations.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections to ensure drone functionality.
- Monitor and ensure airspace compliance for operations.
- Collaborate with the operations team to plan and execute delivery routes.
- Maintain flight logs and complete necessary reporting for each mission.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards during drone operations.
Requirements: Remote Pilot-in-Command (RPIC)
A. RPIC(s) report to the Chief UAS Pilot.
B. RPIC(s) must possess an FAA Airman Certificate and ratings to comply with Drone Express requirements and Federal Aviation Regulations.
Qualification and Experience Requirements - RPIC
A. A RPIC pilot must:
1. Possess a valid Remote Pilot Certificate issued in accordance with Part 107.
2. Successfully complete initial and training requirements detailed in the DEXA Flight Training Manual to serve as the RPIC of DEXA aircraft.
Duties and Responsibilities - RPIC
A. The RPIC’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. The RPIC must be highly knowledgeable of the CFRs, OpSpecs, Flight Manuals and all pertinent information relating to their duties. These are taught in the training courses.
2. The RPIC must meet the requirements of and comply with any applicable Part 107 waivers during any flight not conducted under the provisions of Part 135.
3. The RPIC is the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft within the predetermined standards of this manual.
4. Keep current and certificated in all respects with regard to the requirements of 14 CFR Part 135 and the Company.
5. Remain in possession of the required certificates and documents for the flight to be performed.
6. Ensure all required forms and reports are completed for each flight in accordance with the instructions in GOM Chapters 5 and 6.
7. Complete all required preflight inspections and checks.
8. Conduct a pre-flight weather check for the route(s) to be flown.
9. Verify the airworthiness of the aircraft and that there is sufficient operating time available to complete the scheduled flight or series of flights before the next required maintenance.
10. Ensure that the aircraft is not operated in a careless or reckless manner so as to endanger life or property during flight or while on the ground or so as to create a collision hazard with another aircraft.
11. Prior to commencement of a flight, be thoroughly familiar with the route of flight and surroundings.
12. During a flight, maintain effective communication at all times with other required flight crew.
13. Record all discrepancies encountered in flight in accordance with GOM 6.0.
14. Exercise proper use of all aircraft checklists at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with BVLOS or nighttime operations.
- Familiarity with flight operations for drone deliveries.
- Experience with mapping software, GPS technology, and flight planning tools.
