Job Summary: We are seeking highly motivated and skilled Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Instructors to join our team. The UAS Instructor will be responsible for teaching, training, and guiding students in the operation, maintenance, and safety protocols related to UAS technology. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in UAS operations, excellent instructional skills, and a passion for helping others develop the skills necessary to succeed in the rapidly evolving field of unmanned systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development & Instruction:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for UAS operations, including pre-flight checks, flight maneuvers, post-flight procedures, and safety protocols.
- Create and maintain up-to-date lesson plans, training materials, and course content.
- Provide both theoretical and hands-on instruction, including flight simulations and live drone operations.
- Conduct practical assessments and evaluations of students' skills and performance during flight exercises.
- Teach students about UAS regulations, airspace restrictions, and safety measures in compliance with industry standards and governmental regulations (e.g., FAA regulations).
- Student Support & Mentorship:
- Offer individual support to students to ensure they understand complex technical concepts and gain proficiency in UAS operations.
- Provide constructive feedback on student performance and offer guidance on areas for improvement.
- Maintain a supportive and motivating classroom environment that encourages student success.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all training exercises are conducted in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
- Monitor and enforce safe flying practices, identifying and addressing any safety hazards during training sessions.
- Ensure UAS equipment is maintained and operational, reporting any issues that may affect safety or instructional activities.
- Assessment & Reporting:
- Evaluate and track student progress through assessments, exams, and performance reviews.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on student progress, course completion, and overall performance.
- Provide input for curriculum improvements based on feedback and trends in the UAS industry.
- Professional Development & Industry Awareness:
- Stay informed about the latest developments in UAS technology, regulations, and industry trends.
- Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to continuously enhance knowledge and skills.
- Share insights and best practices with students to promote a learning environment that reflects current industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics, Engineering, Aviation, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent practical experience.
- UAS Certification (e.g., FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate) required.
- Additional UAS-related certifications or qualifications are a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in UAS operations, aviation, or a related field.
- Prior experience in teaching or instructional roles is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with various UAS platforms and flight software.
- Expereinces operating UAS in a Maritime Environment (preferred)
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of UAS technology, flight systems, and regulations (FAA, local guidelines, etc.).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in an easily understandable manner.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Proficiency with drone hardware, software, and related tools.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check (if required).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as required.
- Ability to travel for on-site training sessions or assessments if necessary.
- Willingness to deploy with the UAS for limited periods of time (1-2 months)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
