The Santa Lucia Preserve is a private community dedicated to appreciating and respecting the area’s natural beauty, geography, history, and cultural setting. The Preserve's 20,000 acres are home to a lively community of just under 300 families and a team of talented staff. Our Gatehouse at 1 Rancho San Carlos Road is just a few minutes from Highway 1 in Carmel. A scenic, winding road takes you into the heart of the Preserve in just 20 minutes.
We are currently accepting applications for a Construction Monitor / UAS (Drone) Pilot who will serve as the dual-function field representative for the Design and Construction Services (DCS) Department.
In the Construction Monitor capacity, this role acts as the liaison between construction teams and DCS Administration, conducting routine site inspections to document deviations from the SLP Construction Guideline and Regulations, the SLP Resource Management Plan, the Declaration of Protective Restrictions for the Homeland and Openlands of The Santa Lucia Preserve, and the Rancho San Carlos Forest Management Plan.
Once deviations are documented, the Construction Monitor provides the documentation to the DCS Administrator who will assign mitigating solutions to support regulations and guidelines, and will assure that these implementations are properly adhered to.
In the UAS Pilot capacity, this role supports the Construction Monitoring program by providing photogrammetry and aerial modeling tools that document the compliance and progression of construction projects. Using third-party mapping applications, orthographic data identifies potential encroachments into the Open Lands, vegetation removal for fuel management, utility pathways, erosion control, and overall project progression—archived for posterity.
The operator may assume the roles of Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) or Visual Observer (VO) when supporting local or governmental agencies using SLP UAS resources. Knowledge of FAA rules and regulations is crucial, and the operator must always be able to operate UAS resources safely and effectively.
