Position Summary
OffshoreUAS is seeking a skilled UAS Build Technician and Pilot to support the design, assembly, testing, and operational deployment of large-scale unmanned aircraft systems. This position combines hands-on aircraft construction and integration with operational flight responsibilities supporting defense, maritime, and government programs.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and avionics integration experience, along with demonstrated proficiency flying large UAS platforms in operational or test environments.
Key Responsibilities
Aircraft Manufacturing Assembly & Integration Team
- Assemble, modify, and maintain large-scale unmanned aircraft systems.
- Install and integrate avionics, propulsion systems, sensors, and communications equipment.
- Perform system wiring, soldering, and electrical integration.
- Support prototype development, airframe fabrication, and subsystem installation.
- Conduct pre-flight inspections and post-flight maintenance.
Flight Operations
- Serve as a UAS pilot in command or mission pilot during flight testing and operational missions.
- Conduct flight tests, envelope expansion, and operational missions in accordance with FAA and company procedures.
- Monitor telemetry, flight control systems, and payload systems during operations.
- Maintain accurate flight logs and mission records.
Testing & Engineering Support
- Support engineering teams during ground tests, flight tests, and system validation.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
- Participate in system upgrades and configuration changes.
Operational Support
- Deploy to field sites for flight operations and demonstrations.
- Coordinate with mission crews, engineers, and program managers.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and operational checklists.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience flying large-scale unmanned aircraft systems
- Experience assembling and maintaining UAS platforms
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with autopilot systems and telemetry systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Familiarity with flight test procedures and operational risk management
- Ability to work in both laboratory and field environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- Experience with Group 2 or Group 3 UAS platforms
- Experience with composite airframes and propulsion systems
- Background in avionics integration or electronics
- Experience supporting defense or government programs
- Experience with telemetry systems and ground control stations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in field environments
- Ability to travel for testing and operational deployments
Work Environment & Compensation
This position operates in a hybrid environment, including the aircraft manufacturing floor, assembly labs, test ranges, and field-deployment locations. Work may include irregular hours during flight testing or mission operations.
This position offers a very competitive salary in the range of $128,000 to $158,000 per year, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise operating large-scale unmanned aircraft systems. In addition to base compensation, OffshoreUAS provides a comprehensive benefits package that may include health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan participation, paid time off, and opportunities for performance-based bonuses. Candidates who bring extensive operational experience with large UAS platforms, advanced integration skills, or prior work on government or defense programs may qualify for compensation at the upper end of the range.
