Astravec is a Houston-based aerial logistics brokerage serving the oil and gas industry. We connect energy operators across the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford, and Gulf Coast with certified drone pilots for commercial missions. We are building a vetted freelance pilot roster for ongoing, project-based work.
Role Overview
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. You will be dispatched on a per-job
basis for commercial drone missions at energy facilities, pipeline corridors, and infrastructure sites across Texas. There is no guaranteed minimum hours — work volume grows as our client base grows. Pilots who deliver quality work consistently will receive first call on new projects.
Mission Types
- Pipeline and infrastructure inspection
- Mapping, photogrammetry, and surveying
- Facility and asset inspection (refineries, tank farms, well pads)
- Thermal imaging of industrial infrastructure
- Photography and videography (secondary)
Requirements
- Active FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- Minimum $1,000,000 General Liability insurance per occurrence
- Hull/equipment insurance on your primary drone(s)
- Ability to provide Certificate of Insurance (COI) with ASTRAVEC LLC listed as Additional Insured
- Professional-grade equipment (DJI Matrice series, Phantom 4 RTK, Mavic 3E, or equivalent)
- Based in or near your target region (West Texas, Houston, Corpus Christi, or South Texas)
- Reliable transportation — many sites are remote
- Ability to obtain LAANC authorization independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience flying commercial missions in oil and gas, energy, or industrial environments
- Experience with mapping software (DroneDeploy, Pix4D, or similar)
- Thermal imaging capability (FLIR, DJI H20T, or similar)
- Familiarity with oilfield safety protocols and site safety culture
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- H2S Alive certification or willingness to obtain
- FAA waivers (night operations or other) a plus

Pay: $300.00 - $800.00 per day
Work Location: On the road
