About DefendEye
DefendEye saves lives. We design and manufacture lightweight, autonomous drones used globally for search and rescue operations in the most extreme environments. With our R&D and primary manufacturing established in Kraków, Poland, we are now launching our first US-based production sub-line in Hallandale Beach, Florida. We are looking for an elite, hands-on Electronics Technician to help build and test our life-saving technology.
The Role
We are looking for a precision-focused technician who has a steady hand, a sharp eye for detail, and a deep understanding of circuit boards. You won’t just be turning screws; you will be our first line of defense for quality. You will perform complex micro-soldering, execute Quality Control (QC) on incoming parts, and read engineering schematics to verify and troubleshoot assemblies before they ever take flight.
What You Will Do
Precision Soldering & Rework: Perform surface mount (SMT) and through-hole soldering. Expertly handle the removal, replacement, and reflow of BGA (Ball Grid Array) and micro-components using hot air rework stations.
Quality Control (QC): Inspect electronic assemblies and PCBs under magnification to detect solder defects, bridging, or misalignment. Ensure all work meets strict quality standards.
Schematic Navigation: Read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOM) to diagnose issues and verify correct component placement.
Final Assembly: Build out electromechanical sub-assemblies, route delicate wire harnesses, and integrate circuit boards into the final drone chassis.
Process Documentation: Log QC results, track serial numbers, and report hardware anomalies to the US Site Lead and European engineering teams.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB repair, or an advanced electromechanical assembly role.
Micro-Soldering Master: Proven, verifiable ability to successfully reflow BGA components and solder tiny SMDs (e.g., 0402, 0201 sizes).
Technical Literacy: You must know how to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
QC Mindset: Previous experience in a quality control or visual inspection role. Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 soldering standards is a massive plus.
Tools of the Trade: Highly comfortable working under a microscope and using hot air rework stations, multimeters, and precision hand tools.
Mission-Driven: You understand that a failure in our hardware could compromise a search and rescue mission. You do not cut corners.
Why Join Us?
Ground-Floor Opportunity: Be one of the foundational team members at our brand-new Hallandale Beach facility.
Meaningful Work: The hardware you build will be deployed to emergency responders globally.
Growth: As our US production scales, you will have the opportunity to grow into a Line Lead or QC Management role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
