Position Title: Virtual Instructor

Position Purpose:
Unmanned Safety Institute is seeking experienced and motivated Virtual Instructor to support the evening and weekend delivery of USI’s knowledge-based training programs. This role is responsible for facilitating virtual instruction, supporting student success, and ensuring high-quality delivery of USI’s curriculum in an online learning environment.
This is a fully remote position and does not require relocation or onsite presence.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instruction & Course Delivery
- Deliver virtual lectures for USI’s knowledge-based curriculum during scheduled evening sessions and one weekend day
- Host and facilitate virtual cohort orientations for evening program participants
- Maintain instructional consistency aligned with USI standards and course objectives
Student Support & Engagement
- Monitor student progression and engagement throughout the course
- Track attendance and participation
- Proactively identify and flag at-risk students to the Program Manager and Director of Program Management
- Work directly with at-risk students to support retention and successful course completion
- Respond to student questions related to course content, schedule, and expectations
Program Coordination & Reporting
- Provide regular status updates and reporting as required
- Document attendance, progression, and notable student issues
- Coordinate with USI Program Management on student performance and cohort health
LMS & Assessment Support
- Support students with LMS navigation and course access issues
- Assist with online testing and assessment-related questions
- Ensure assessments are administered in accordance with USI policies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree FAA
- Remote Pilot certification
- Ability to earn and maintain USI knowledge-based certifications
- Experience teaching, instructing, or facilitating virtual learning environments
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable managing and engaging virtual cohorts
- Ability to work evenings and one weekend day consistently
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable internet connection and professional virtual teaching setup
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA Private Pilot
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant
- Prior experience in aviation, unmanned systems, safety, or technical teaching
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS)
- Experience supporting adult learners or workforce development programs
Work Environment:
· This is a fully remote, virtual position with no onsite or in-person requirements.
· Instruction and student support are delivered entirely through online platforms and USI’s Learning Management System (LMS).
· Contractors must maintain a professional virtual teaching environment, including:
o A quiet, distraction-free workspace
o Video-capable computer and peripherals suitable for live instruction
o Webcam and microphone that support clear audio and video communication
· A reliable, high-speed internet connection is required to support live virtual instruction, student engagement, and LMS access.
· Instructors are expected to maintain a professional on-camera presence and adhere to USI standards for virtual classroom delivery.
