Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on UAS Test & Demonstration Specialist to support flight testing, system validation, field demonstrations, and customer interactions. This role combines drone piloting, technical testing, troubleshooting, reporting, and training, and will work closely with engineering and customers.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys flying drones, working in the field, and interacting with customers, while still being technically grounded.
Key Responsibilities
Flight Testing & Validation
- Perform flight tests of tethered and untethered UAS platforms
- Execute test plans, functional checks, and regression testing
- Validate system performance (aircraft, tether, power systems, payloads, ground station)
- Identify, reproduce, and document issues during testing
Test Reporting & Documentation
- Record and analyze test results
- Create clear test reports, logs, and issue summaries
- Provide structured feedback to engineering for design improvements
Field Demonstrations
- Attend and support customer demonstrations, trade shows, and field trials
- Prepare systems for demos (setup, calibration, pre-flight checks)
- Operate drones during live demonstrations in professional environments
Basic Troubleshooting & Support
- Perform basic electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting
- Swap components, cables, connectors, and modules as needed
- Support engineering during failure analysis and root-cause investigations
Training & Customer Communication
- Assist with operator training for customers
- Communicate clearly with military, government, and commercial users
- Gather customer feedback and operational requirements from the field
Required Qualifications
- Experience flying multirotor drones (professional or advanced hobby level)
- Strong understanding of UAS systems (motors, ESCs, batteries, radios, payloads)
- Comfortable working outdoors and in field environments
- Ability to write clear, structured test reports
- Good verbal communication skills with customers and internal teams
- Willingness to travel for demos, tests, and customer support
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tethered drone systems
- Background in test engineering, field engineering, or technical support
- Familiarity with PX4 / ArduPilot / proprietary GCS software
- Basic understanding of networking, RF links, or power systems
- Prior experience with defense or government customers
- FAA Part 107 (or ability to obtain)
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
