Established Connecticut-based surveying and engineering firm is seeking a self-sufficient Field Survey Technician to operate independently from a fully equipped company survey truck. This role is intended for a professional who can manage field assignments start-to-finish without daily oversight.
This is a full-time W2 position with benefits. We are building a small, high-trust team focused on quality work, efficiency, and professionalism.
The right candidate will be provided with a dedicated survey truck (take-home), GPS equipment, robotic total station, data collector, laptop, and mobile hotspot. All field tools are provided.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and verify survey control (base/rover RTK and robotic total station workflows)
- Perform topographic surveys (residential & commercial)
- Recover and document boundary monumentation
- Perform construction stakeout as required
- Set property pins accurately and efficiently
- Maintain clean, organized digital field data for office processing
- Communicate clearly regarding field conditions or discrepancies
- Occasionally assist with bathymetric surveys and UAS / LiDAR operations
Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of GPS survey equipment
- Ability to operate independently in the field
- Sound judgment and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- FAA Part 107 license preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
Professional Survey Licensure is not required. Demonstrated field competence and integrity are essential. You will interface directly with contractors, homeowners, and developers, and represent the firm professionally on every site.
This position is not entry-level. We are seeking a long-term team member who takes pride in accuracy, responsibility, and professional standards.
